The Great Debate

James White notes that is was 20 years ago tonight that Greg Bahnsen debated Atheist Gordon Stein. It is one that I've gone back to listen to over and over again. It is full of the folly of atheistic thought and the glory of the wisdom of God.

Yeah that debate was amazing. I've listened to a few of Bahnsen's sermons and lectures, and read quite a bit of his insight.

What are your thoughts on apologetics? I am definitely leaning toward the presuppositional side. I have Frame's Apologetics To The Glory Of God and I just got Four Views On Apologetics.

Right now I'm struggling with some modern assumptions regarding Scripture. To understand what I mean, I highly recommend the book Proper Confidence by Lesslie Newbigin.

This debate was a bit of a let down. Bahnsen's opposition was really kind of ridiculous. Bahnsen was obviously aware of the arguments that he would present as well as those he would oppose, but the other guy just seemed clueless. I mean he was arguing that there are "Christians" in organized crime...thus there is no God!?!?!?! Are you kidding. At some point this degenerates to the point of not even being an academic debate
